German carmaker Mercedes-Benz built a plant in Kecskemét to manufacture the new Mercedes-Benz A-B-Class. The plant was opened on March 29, 2012. The Stuttgart-based company invested €800 million (US$1.24 billion) to build the new plant, which is expected to create 2,500 new jobs in the region. According to the plans, more than 100,000 vehicles will be produced annual at the factory.Mercedes Benz announced will double the manufacturing facility size in 2016 to accomondate the new models production.
